Lecia Brown-Ellis
International Education Officer
Lecia Ellis has a rich professional background, having served as College Registrar at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) in Jamaica. In this capacity, she exhibited strong leadership skills and played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the institution. Notably, her dedication to advocacy led her to take on additional responsibilities, serving as a union delegate for staff members of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) and as a VTDI Board Member representing the administrative staff.
Beyond her local involvement, Lecia’s advocacy extends globally, evident in her role as president of the College of Education Graduate Student Association. Currently, she is furthering her academic pursuits by pursuing a PhD in Educational Administration at the University of Saskatchewan (USask), where her research focuses on Internationalization in Higher Education. Drawing from her own experiences as an international student, Lecia is committed to identifying avenues through research to enhance the successful integration of international graduates into the workforce in Saskatchewan.
Alongside her doctoral studies, Lecia holds a full-time position at the International Students and Study Abroad Center (ISSAC) as an International Education Officer. In this role, she leads various projects aimed at supporting students’ transition and ensuring their academic success.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Lecia values her role as a Christian and cherishes her family life, being married with four children. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, fishing, and playing dominoes.
